Homeward Bound - Back to Living Simply in Small Town America (and on Lots Less $$$)

My goal is to return to living simply in small town America in my little house near Silver Lake.  I am taking a step out in faith to make moving forward a little easier.  Today, I printed out the paperwork to apply to be an adjunct professor for an online EEG program out of Maryland.  I also contacted an employer who wanted to hire me to do in-home ambulatory EEGs in western NY to inquire if they have an part-time positions.

I am going to begin packing the things that I have here with me so I may take them home this next weekend.  Who knew that being this close to home has been the undoing of my travel career...lol? Just sleeping in my own bed and being able to spend time at the lake again has been such a wonderful thing for me after being gone for over four years.

Unfortunately, I have a studio apartment in New Haven that I need to sublet.  It was my original plan to return to work there for another year.  A friend of mine is staying there and I have updated her to the fact that I am advertising it for a sublet.  So,

  • Step One:  Find another way to support myself,
  • Step Two:  Get my things packed up and back to the little house,
  • Step Three:  Sublet the studio apartment and get the furniture off to Goodwill or Salvation Army.
  • Step Four:  Get the other things packed up and brought back to the little house.

Backyard Excavation

I am working on redoing my flower beds and had someone come and level the backyard.  Two of my flower beds have been leveled as well to make room for a courtyard-type of patio.  It was quite late when I took the picture so it is not very clear.  This has given me so much more room...lol.  I cannot wait until it comes to fruition.  God is Good.

Right now I am wide awake at 2:38 am on a night off!  I slept this evening and since I have been working night shifts for over a month my sleeping has been disrupted.  It makes me laugh!
