Friday Afternoon Update

I am at the library again to check on my email messages. It is good to be out of the house for a while. The back room floor is insulated and closed in, well the bedroom side of it is...lol! The bathroom side of the floor has to be taken up and the process continued. What a difference some new joists, plywood, and insulation makes! Who knew??? All jokes aside, it feels so much better to know that I won't be so cold this winter.

In fact, the local weatherization program has been by to see me and they are coming back to work on the little yellow house. I qualify for the program that goes to homes in our area and helps low-income residents with weatherizing them (the houses not the people...lol!) free of charge. They are bringing me a new back door! I am so pleased! What can I say? I thanked them for their program efforts and I am grateful that this program exists.

I have recent photos of the back of the house that shows the progress of the work. Some days it is just good to see how it has improved. When I get discouraged I just take out the before shots and that makes things much clearer for me. We have come a long way!

Anyway, this is Columbus Day weekend here in the US. There is a craft show at Letchworth Park that begins tomorrow and runs until Monday. They have a wonderful turn out of vendors and people come from everywhere to check out the wares. They have so many different things to see! A few years ago when we went to it, there was a man who was making old-fashioned brooms. It was really nice to see the simplicity and yet the ingenuity of the making of the broom. He had purchased an authentic broom-making machine so he was making them right on the spot! Very interesting.

Oh, before I forget, this is the kind of broom that the broom maker was making: http://www.northwovenbroom.com/ Aren't they lovely?
